For the colour mavens amongst us…

Designed by Paris based KOZ Architects, the 1,600 square-meter facility is unexpected and bold in its riotous use of colour both inside and out. It doesn’t take much imagination to understand that toys and childhood play were the guiding inspirations for the recently completed children’s sports and recreation center in Saint-Cloud, located in the metropolitan area of Paris.

I would have loved having such a cool and colorful Sport Centre as a kid!

black

Decadent jellies and trifles dusted in gold - it looks like a royal feast. But look a little closer and you’ll see that Fiona’s food is black. That’s right! Fiona Leahy (party planner extraordinaire) just loves the colour black. Fiona collaborated with Bompas & Parr on this food and design fest…

This black banquet was hosted as part of the London Design Festival in an all black venue of course.

London Design week: The Tounarment

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

Londoner’s have been imersed into a whirlwind of design this week. Check out this oversized arty chess board installation!!

“‘The Tournament’, a gigantic chess match located in Trafalgar Square was designed by Spanish designer Jaime Hayon. He crafted the thirty-two unique ceramic chess pieces especially for London Design week, working in collaboration with Italian ceramics company Bosa. The chess board, made from a mosaic of glass tiles, was created by Bisazza. Each of the chess pieces was hand-painted by Hayon, incorporating imagery from some of London’s most iconic buildings. Set above the board are two platforms where players can sit back in one of Hayon’s Showtime chairs and mastermind their next move.

People were gathered to watch the matches take place and admire the designs. Throughout the event, members of the British Chess Federation played matches in the morning. While the public got a chance to battle it out in the afternoons.”

If you fancy a piece of Jaime’s work- pay us a visit, as we stock selected items at 4.

Maison Martin Margiela for Les Ateliers Ruby Helmet

Monday, September 21st, 2009

You’ll be pleased to know the new arrivals from Les Ateliers Ruby helmets have recently landed at 4. The latest collaboration is with Maison Martin Margiela, and have a graffiti look about them. Exclusive to 4, we are the proud to say that we are  the only middle eastern stockist. Check them out!

“In the midst of celebrating its 20th Birthday, Maison Martin Margiela became highly enthusiastic about the project to transform the Ruby Helmet. Martin Margiela and his colleagues at 163 Rue St-Maur, took the programme literally and each one places his signature on the helmet to create a collective work. The carbon shell is varnished then covered with broad lines of paint with a “meudon white” effect, the pure but imperfect white’s that are the ‘Maison’s’ universal hallmark.

The whole team’s involvement can then be discovered with eyes closed: All the members have engraved their name or initials into the layer of white paint. Other forms of personalisation have been added: the traditional Ateliers Ruby cardinal red interior is replaced by black leather and the logo is drawn in chrome and white.” Yatzer.com
