Pandora’s Cube

Monday, November 30th, 2009

Throughout December, Nissan is partnering with Colette to fete its latest model, Cube, by launching three pop-up boutiques in Paris, London and Berlin, flogging trinkets and other colourful odds and ends by an assortment of Japanese designers.

Each of the stores is housed in an eccentric, slightly proletariat locale, such as the The Old Truman Brewery’s Boilerhouse in East London. But entry must be obtained by either applying online (yes, really) or spotting one a Cube trolling about the host city. Those lucky enough to score a golden ticket will have first dibs at wares from Mary Katrantzou, Irina Shaposhnikova, Yazbukey and E2, as well as exclusive performances (including Japanese film screenings) and one-offs like a music balloon by Yuento and a paper cup holder by Bonboog. It’s the small things in life…

Damir Doma interviewed in The New Order Magazine

Monday, November 30th, 2009

4 are excited to be stocking Damir Doma next season, so we were thrilled to see that he had been interviewed by John Skelton, Creative Director of forward-thinking menswear and lifestyle website oki-ni.com to be published in  The New Order magazine.

In the interview, which is published in full in the 4th issue of The New Order, Damir Doma talks through the label’s development, his projects for the coming season and the launch of his latest collection SILENT, which is coming soon to 4…

Excerpt from the interview:

John: Do you see your upcoming women’s line for Damir Doma mainline as an extension of what you’ve already got going on?

Damir: For me it’s just one big thing, one big collection.

J: I thought so, I’m glad you see it like that.

D: There are certain products that we have for women and we don’t have for men and the other way around obviously but it’s really kind of one big thing.

J: It’s going to be amazing I’m sure.

D: I’m also going to do the buying of the materials in one go, it’s the only way that it kind of works with my process. I kind of want to control everything and to do it myself so I couldn’t split it up and do the men’s and then the women’s as a parallel, it wouldn’t work for me.

Dr. Martens’ first Pop-Up Store built in London

Monday, November 30th, 2009

The first pop-up shop by Dr. Martens has been built in London. Gypframe shelving, industrial PVC curtains, construction-site lighting, metal-grid lockers, shrink-wrap and stencilled signage all belong to the warehouse vernacular in this Dr Martens pop-up store…

“The interior of  pop-up store resembles that of a warehouse, a building type that’s been used for temporary retail spaces before.  In this case, however, it refers to Doc Martens’ brand identity”, says Philip Handford, creative director of design firm Campaign.
