Henrik Vibskov Autumn/Winter 2010

Friday, April 30th, 2010

4 favourite Henrik Vibskov is always looking to push the boundaries of convention in his collections and catwalk shows. No surprise then that we note his highly-anticipated Autumn/Winter 2010 show which was as eccentric as the designer himself.

Staged at a slaughter house in Ködbyn, the meat-packing district of Copenhagen, the event was one of the highlights of the recent Copenhagen Fashion Week. With a stage set punctuated by hanging and spinning wooden sculptures and framed by musicians atop podiums, the collection was sent down the runway to the sound of atmospheric jazz.

Find his Spring/Summer 2010 womenswear and menswear collections at 4.

Agonist Parfums

Friday, April 30th, 2010

Agonist is a new fragrance brand that originated in Sweden, just over a year ago. Their USP is the creation of pure fragrances that are inspired by the Nordic climate, however it’s the striking bottle design (by Sentral Designstudio and Asa Jungnelius) that really caught our eye!

We haven’t managed to get a whiff yet, but if this smells as great as it looks then we’re in for a olifactory treat.

Cool Down at Brighton’s Latest Hang-Out

Friday, April 30th, 2010

With a beautifully simplistic interior and brand identity – we applaud their quite brilliant logo – Brighton’s Lickalso began life on the Pembrokeshire coast, when school friends Owain Williams and Ky Wright bought an ice cream trike and taught themselves how to make frozen yogurt and ice cream….

A roaring success, thanks to their use of completely natural ingredients – and, of course, a lot of dedication and hard work – the pair soon set about a move to the south coast, and found themselves The Sunday Times’ ‘most likely to succeed brand’….

With a simple message, great product and lovable aesthetic, who can blame them?

Art’s Immortal Rock Star: The Intimate Documentary “Jean-Michel Basquiat: The Radiant Child” by Tamra Davis

Friday, April 30th, 2010

Forever remembered as one of the art world’s brightest—and fastest burning—stars, Jean-Michel Basquiat has been immortalised in a short film by director Tamra Davis, who was one of only few to document the artist during his lifetime.

Davis went on to develop the short into a feature-length documentary with Arthouse Films, Jean-Michel Basquiat: The Radiant Child, seeking out Basquiat’s contemporaries, friends and admirers, from his longtime girlfriend Suzanne Mallouk to artist Julian Schnabel and early hip-hop maestro Fab Five Freddy. T

he film documents Basquiat’s transformation from slouching street kid into international art world darling,  accompanied by graphic animations by artist Shepard Fairey and a soundtrack from Beastie Boys Adam Horovitz and Mike Diamond and Manhattan-based composer J. Ralph.

This clip is an exclusive preview of the film, which in association with NOWNESS, just had its New York premiere at MoMA during the Tribeca Film Festival.

The clip can be seen here: Jean-Michel Basquiat: The Radiant Child

‘Black Hole’ by Andre Wagner

Friday, April 30th, 2010

‘Black Hole’ is a collection of images by German photographer Andre Wagner, who has manipulated negative space to create these striking portraits.

Inspired by Oriental and Middle Eastern culture, his works play on the juxtaposing effects of light and dark, conjuring ethereal mystery and beauty.
