Cerruti Baleri for Maison Martin Margiela Furniture

Friday, April 16th, 2010

Is there nothing the Maison can’t do?

With the attention to layout and environment so apparent when you walk into a Margiela store, it is no surprise that the company is now looking at furniture design.

Maison Martin Margiela have collaborated with Italian furniture experts Cerruti Baleri to create two pieces of furniture which will be launched at Milan’s Fuorisalone; ‘Groupe’, a surrealist sofa that incorporates three armchairs, and ‘Emmanuelle’, an armchair wrapped in white cotton canvas.

Dazed Digital sat down with Mr Carandini, Art Director of Cerruti to talk about the partnership, which you can find here:  http://www.dazeddigital.com/view/default.aspx?Category=22&ArticleID=7285&PageNum=1

4 currently stock the limited edition ‘Atelier Ruby’ Helmets and ‘MMM Objets’, as well as the recently-launched fragrance (coming soon).

Damir Doma’s Autumn/Winter 2010/11 Collection

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010

4 favourite, Damir Doma presented his Fall/Winter 2010/11 collection last week in Paris.

In short, we loved it.

Draped, hooded, pleated, pintucked and layered, Doma’s collection was an exploration of volume, in muted shades of charcoal, slate and ash. Each look had its own narrative, distinct from its predecessor yet still in keeping with the cohesion of the collective. Robe-like outerwear, ankle-length wool coats and hooded capes formed the billowing silhouettes that swept the catwalk, punctuated with bondage-style belting, leather saddle-bags and modest skull caps. The odd splash of print, and occasional bare leg or two, vamped up the understated elegance of the collection, as Doma presented shorts, leggings and harem pants as alternatives to classic mens’ tailoring.

Whilst we salivate in anticipation, check out Damir Doma’s Spring/Summer 2010 collection, soon to hit 4!

MiMa “Mirzam Manifesto”

Monday, January 18th, 2010

Mima ” Mirzam Manifesto” A design initiative established by 2 very creative architects Mr. Jassim Al Saddah and Mr. Anas Al Omaim. With the aim of mixing interdisciplinary professions, to promote a culture of discussion and criticism through different art mediums.

One of their first exhibitions, The Rebirth of old Kuwaiti Proverbs was held at 4.

“Our exhibition is about “عتيج الصوف ولا يديد البريسم؟” rethinking the way we view our Kuwaiti culture from its proverbs to its simplest and quirkiest words illustrated through traditional calligraphy but digitally enhanced to create an art piece.” -Jassim and Anas

The exhibition was a huge success, the pictures do not do them justice. Jassim and Anas congratulations.
